Is it in our human nature to be ungrateful or is it a part of our character that we acquire along the way?

Everyday we come across people that truly encounter difficulties that could "break" the strongest of all. Yet, they are doing whatever they can in their power to overcome them and to ultimately enjoy a peaceful and happy life.

Yes, life is a struggle! Yes, life is full of surprises! Yes, life shows its pretty face to some and its ugly face to others but at the end of the day what we are all so desperately trying to find is happiness and comfort and love and affection and companionship.

Why, I ask though, some people become so ungrateful and the minute they "step out" of their misery (as themselves describe their previous position) they are doing whatever they can to feel sad and/or unhappy about something? Do they feel more comfortable like that?

Do we become so used of being sad and unhappy that we cannot appreciate happiness?
Is it truly in our nature or is it something that society "developed" on us?
When we truly have no real problems, why do we have to poison our happiness?
Why is it becoming more and more difficult to feel and be happy?
Are we scared of happiness or are we truly ungrateful towards the one thing we are all so passionately seek?

Theo, Theo, Theo,

Despite all the criticism, I did not read anywhere in your post what is your definition of "Love"! The easiest thing to do is to criticize other people's opinion without actually stating yours.

I am willing to know what is your opinion but it seems to me that you do not have any! Of course love is defined through personal experiences because what you feel in your heart (and what you don't, for that matter) is based on your life!

A (good) guess about the source of that "inspiration".... simply unawareness
That comment of yours draws a good picture of what you probably are... completely and utterly unaware of love!

Nothing poetic or inspiring here... just a misunderstanding of the nature of love, a poorly expressed definition that relates love to personal expectations, desires and fears. The perspective of love being pain (heartache & tears), being a game or being the equivalent of a "cheek-to-cheek" experience is an indication of low mentality and a misguiding signpost to those who feel the need to somehow change their lives in pursuit of happiness.

A (good) guess about the source of that "inspiration".... simply unawareness.

Well said Queen Mary. Let me add that True Love DOES come with heartache and a lot of tears but its all worth it in the end and its all part of the love game Smiley.

I find you very poetic and inspired....what, I wonder, is the source of your inspiration?  Wink

We all die at some point...sure! Some have got used to the idea, others are terrified of it while the rest of them don't really care to think about it. Death comes to us all...it can happen at any time...quick or fast, natural or tragic...death is the end. The end of everything you have achieved, seen, done, lived through, experienced and created. They say that the ones left behind are worst off and that's so true in most cases.

What we all fail to comprehend is that time is NOT endless...nothing lasts forever and despite the fact that many say it...few really understand it. We seem to think that 'we have time', that death only happens to others, (preferably people we don't know),  not to us! We tend to postpone things we want to do or say to others cause ...'we have time'!!

The truth is that we don't really! When death comes to people we love or have known we always wished we had said this and that, had given them more time...have done that thing we wanted to but kept postponing cause...we have time!

Well, for a certain wonderful lady time run out tonight...and I'm left with absolutely no time to go for that coffee I promised her I would...and she asked me for it so many times...so many...

God bless your soul Mrs Maria, rest in peace ! I am sorry for never having the time to actually make it for that coffee but I promise you that we will have it ...some day!

A tiny word with an extraordinary meaning!

We live our lives in continuous search of love and the minute we find it? "Heaven, I am in heaven... " as the famous song "Cheek to Cheek" sung by Fred Astaire goes! Smiley

Even if it comes with heartache! Even if it comes with tears!

L-O-V-E... Four letters that give our existence a whole new meaning!

Love and you will be loved!
Love and you will live!
Love and you will create life in its most divine form!
Love and live free!

...Heaven, I'm in Heaven,
And my heart beats so that I can hardly speak;
And I seem to find the happiness I seek
When we're out together dancing, cheek to cheek...
